The Shway is here to Stay…FolkFest 2010

We are grateful to our many faithful Shway’ers in the thoughts encouragements and dog outfits we have been seeing lately. There’s no question that the Folk Fest is the LARGEST thing we do every year and this week has been lots of long hours of pounding and creating objects of inspiration and desire. In fact our Master Artisan/Sculptor dude…Beau Smith continues to stroke the genius of creativity and magic from within (and when I say magic, basicly I’m saying that Beau made it and he’s not going to tell you how. OK, he might show you how on a YouTube that drives traffic to his blog, but you won’t be able to do it because there’s only one Beau Smith. Trust me…he’s out there.)

I pulled in in my faithful Ford Ranger (I call him trigger) from the making important pickups and deliveries (aka drops) yesterday with a truckload of wood from our favorite lumber supplier at this point (e.g, it could change but something would have to happen, like a free source of materials, which does happen from time to time…Praise God!) and Beau is tucked away in his design studio with the fans running on high. Beside him is a MOUND of small very interesting and lovable cute froggies (I’m quoting one of our princess Leia level shawy’ers here when I say ‘cute froggies’. Luke Skywalker frogs say it slightly different, but I don’t know any of those right now. We reviewed the tasks on our infamous ‘plate’ and unloaded the valuable CDX from yes, that’s right…da Depot. And please know Susan, if you sold CDX we’d have a hard time purchasing it from any place other than Vickery Hardware. For us, Vickery is for all practical purposes the center of Shwayness…and we are regular contributors to the advancement of Vickeryness.

I wasn’t going to tell you this, but I’m being forced so here it is. The other day, I secretly borrowed the paint roller and pad to advance the décor in my home with the faithful and loyal art stewardship of one of the true queens of art inspiration in our region, mainly Lake Sirmon. As we pull out that CDX, Beaus says, “where’s the roller?” and I’m like Doh…ah…”It was hi-jacked…I bet neighbor and a quite lovely neighbor I might add would let us borrow her paint roller/” Sure enough, but when I return the power of the Shway and all that is creative took over and the Smith man is gesso’n boards (aka painting) with a push broom. Oh brother, the flood gates are open now…
